On April 10, 1984, the Mid-Island Surfcasters Club was founded by Marge Buss and 13 other members.
We are proud members of LIBBA and MSA. Conservation is a strong ethic of our club, with each member making conscious efforts to save and preserve our beaches for future generations. Through our membership in these organizations, we hope to pass on the traditions of fishing and respect for the ocean to future generations.
Our club is also family oriented. We hold many events for the family each year including an annual Awards Dinner, annual Summer BBQ, and annual Holiday Party.
We hold monthly meetings, typically the first Thursday of every month. Please check the "Upcoming Events" page on the sidebar to see when and where the next meeting is going to be held. At our meetings, we typically have a guest speaker or a How-To. This helps to keep us learning the sport as there is always something to learn. During the fishing season we hold monthly fishing contests, including trips to Montauk. We also participate in the "New York Surf Fishing Contest" hosted by "The Fisherman" magazine.
The membership of our club is open to both men and women. All members have a great passion for fishing and can be seen frequenting many of the beaches throughout the year. Children of our members under the age of 16 are eligible to enter the Children's division of the "New York Surf Fishing Contest" run by "The Fisherman" magazine. Also, wives and daughters of active club members over the age of 18 are eligible to enter the Women's division of the "New York Surf Fishing Contest."
We are always looking for new members, if you are interested in joining our club or you are unsure and just want to come meet some of the members and check us out, please go to the "Contact Us" page.
